New Jersey's Beautiful Coastline

The beautiful coastline of New Jersey is one of its most tremendous draws. With over 125 miles of sand to wiggle your toes in, four of New Jersey’s counties boast shore hot spots that can please just about everyone.

We have beaches for swimming, surfing, and fishing; although most have regulations as to where and when surfing and fishing may take place. Some areas have full boardwalks with arcades and rides such as the Seasides, while others are quieter places that are best for relaxing, like Avon-by-the-Sea. You can also find nature trails, bird watching, windsurfing, and an array of other outdoor activities at spots like the ever popular Sandy Hook and the beautiful Island Beach State Park.

Each municipality controls its own beaches. Most charge a fee during the summer season but many give discounts for children ages 12 through 18 while those under 12 are admitted free. Many beaches offer senior discounts as well. Lifeguards are also stationed on nearly every beach during daylight hours. Another important tip; find out in advance if the beach you plan on visiting allows picnicking on the sand or if they have other options for getting food and beverages.

The Jersey Shore’s beaches are not restricted to the Atlantic Ocean either. We also have some very beautiful bayshore beaches. Many of which have life guards and most of them are free. So whether you come down for a day or come down for the season you can get all your Jersey Shore beach information right here.
